A barely passable track links the port of Guyaquil to Hacienda Victoria, a family-run plantation where the cocoa trees grow in the shade of magnificent Ceibas, huge trees that are several hundred years old. It is here that our partner farms the much sought-after Nacional Arriba cocoa beans, with their unusual gentle and slightly spicy flavours of fresh fruit.
